FAQ

Answers to Commonly Asked Questions Regarding Chiropractic Care

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is based on the principles that your body is a self regulating and self healing organism that is powered by your nervous system. When disturbances arise in your nervous system, called vertebral subluxations, your body is robbed of its vitality, while sickness and dis-ease is promoted. The chiropractor removes the subluxation with a specific adjustment, thus, restoring the nervous system's potential to allow the body to heal and function at optimal levels.

Is Chiropractic Safe?

Chiropractic is one of, if not, the safest forms of all the healing arts. The chiropractor is the only trained professional that can deliver a safe, gentle and highly precise adjustment. Chiropractic is safe for all walks of life including pregnant women, newborns and the osteoporotic elderly.

Does an adjustment hurt?

Most people cannot wait to get adjusted. They love the feeling of their body's being freed of any damaging nerve interference. Many people laugh as they are adjusted because it feels so good. At times during an adjustment, one may hear a "pop." Do not be alarmed at this sound. This is simply gas that is trapped within the joint capsule.

Does Chiropractic help with anything other than neck and back pain?

Chiropractic has had great success with many conditions and ailments including: migraines, ringing of the ears, visual disturbances, sinus problems, ear infections, dizziness, asthma, heartburn, high blood pressure, constipation, depression, joint pain and arthritis , just to name a few. Neck and back pain is not even scratching the surface of how chiropractic can benefit you . The bottom line is that chiropractic does not diagnose, treat, heal or cure any of the above problems. Chiropractic cares for the entire individual who may or may not be stricken with any symptoms. Chiropractic boosts the healing capacity of the individual, and subsequently, improved function and health are the results.

How long do I need to come?

Care is based on multiple factors. The chiropractor will take a detailed history, perform neurological tests and possibly take x-rays, if necessary. All of these factors will contribute to a specific prescription for care. Chiropractic is most beneficial when it is incorporated into your lifestyle. Getting checked for subluxations on a regular basis ensures a nervous system free of interference, hence, optimizing your human potential. How long do you want to be functioning and healing yourself at 100%? That is the answer to how long care is necessary!
